The SYSA controversy solved

There is an answer that would satisfy all the parties to the SYSA Project in the Glenrose Area.

A huge piece of property exists along Glenrose and 57th Avenue on the South Hill. If Spokane County would consider acquiring that property with the intention of building a county park, quite similar to Plante’s Ferry Park in the Valley, almost everyone could be made happy.

This park could be built out with soccer fields, baseball diamonds and open space. There is not another piece of property like this anymore on the South Hill. Nor is there a sports complex .

A family in Spokane owns this property, which is a big hayfield. Some members of the family have not wanted to part with it while some have. If this family knew that a park would be created, they might just agree to sell it to Spokane County.

I am certain that builders and Realtors have eyed this property for some time. What the South Hill and especially this particular area does not need is more Section 8 HUD apartments or dense single-family housing.

SYSA would have a complex, Glenrose residents would be relieved and the South Hill could have a wonderful park.
