NBA in a failing state

A National Public Radio news report on Feb. 18, 2020, described plans currently underway to further extend the National Basketball Association in Mexico. This comes in an era when Mexican civil authorities cannot safeguard their own citizens (their own citizens) who apply for asylum in the United States, only to be deported back in country. A married couple whose names could not be disclosed, in the balance of life and death, has no known recourse now, after expedited denial of entry at the southern border. In fact, the couple was never granted witness protection at home, having been inadvertently present at a cartel killing done publicly.

Let the highly-paid players, coaches, team owners and agents of the NBA set aside portions of their compensation to provide a Mexican safe zone for individuals seeking a life unburdened from terror.
