The importance of being active

As a patient of Planned Parenthood as well as a Boise State student, I’ve seen firsthand the benefits of having access to a Planned Parenthood in my community. I’ve also seen the negative effects of dangerous legislation being passed throughout the past few legislative sessions that is is not benefiting anyone but rather, targeting the residents of Idahoans’ rights to bodily autonomy and family planning services such as safe, legal abortion.

The importance of keeping up with your local legislature and the legislation that is being enacted is more important than ever. Though it may not seem like it, contacting your elected officials can make a difference. Legislation that is directly targeted at the right to bodily autonomy such as the right to safe, legal abortion is not only dangerous, but can be costly and largely ineffective. It is more important now than ever to hold our elected officials accountable in defending our rights to bodily autonomy.
