Do your research
I was struck by two letters in the Dec. 18 Spokesman-Review.
The first was by Elizabeth Lee Warren (“Educate ourselves on world issues”), who urged us to educated ourselves about world issues. The knowledge base of the world has become immense and so it has become difficult to understand without doing some research.
Which brings me to the second letter. This is by Elise Jones (“Modeling global warming”). Obviously, Elise has looked into the climate change issue. The climate change debate is a scientific issue involving anthropology, geology, physics, biology, meteorology, chemistry and more. None of us are knowledgeable in all those fields, so we must rely on those who are experts. Al Gore is not an expert in any of those fields.
So, I urge your readers to go beyond the voice of politicians; read, with an analytical mind, the writings of scientists, pro and con, who have investigated the ways of nature. You may have to dig a little, these writings are not on the bestseller list.
