EVSD levy is vital

The passage of the East Valley School District’s Operation Levy is vital to the education of our students. EV students deserve an outstanding education. The passage of the expiring Educational Programs and Operations levy will allow for maintenance of music, drama, debate and athletics. Technology, textbooks, library, and classroom materials will be replaced and updated. Students and staff safety will be enhanced with a second school resource deputy. Crossing guards and playground supervisors are levy funded positions and are needed to maintain student safety.

Much of the district’s infrastructure needs updating. The replacement Capital Projects levy will allow for upgrades to plumbing, heating, ventilation and air conditioning. Safe entries will be installed in our buildings and increased traffic will be accommodated.

Voter approval will maintain a consistent tax rate while providing reliable funding for EV schools. The EV School District has been very prudent and cautious in spending money received from our community’s tax payers. Federal and state funding does not meet all of the costs in providing the programs and services our students need. We urge you to vote “Yes” on February 11, 2020 to approve our two levies.
