Taking our first steps
“This is going to take time. But I really believe that I was elected to start moving that needle in the right direction. And that right direction is not about enabling. It’s about empowering,” Woodward said.
History is watching what we do, Mayor Woodward. Let’s start writing it with patience, empathy, compassion, accountability, and love. Patience is a tricky word, however, as for many, it is an emergency. But … it is needed.
Just yesterday, my wife, Dawn, saved a man’s life as he laid in the fetal position on the ground by our restaurant in the snow groaning. He was in bad shape, could not sit up, was in great pain, was in trouble. She used all I mentioned above to bring the man help.
As Bono once said about extreme poverty, “You cannot help them all, but the ones you can you must.” We should all apply these words as Dawn did yesterday.
Yes, patience. Please pray for our city and its leaders.
