The stadium debacle

Mr. Baumgartner, the only thing you got right is that the downtown stadium proposal was done too quickly, on your end, it was not properly thought through, researched or investigated. (“Vision for downtown stadium gets new life,” News, Jan. 23)

The parking issue was never resolved. The arena seats between 10 and 12,000 people, however there are only 2,000 parking spaces. This proposed stadium would demolish 900 of those existing spaces, with no adequate replacement — and then add 5,000 more seats!

My main concern, however, is the noise pollution that an open air sports arena will generate three blocks from where people live and less than 200 feet from the Spokane Civic Theater. How are you going to contain the noise of the crowd, the bands and the game itself from ruining a night at the theater? Schedule them only when the theater is dark?

Please listen to the people.
