Human beings by our very nature are creative and now we have all seen the creative use of PPE masks. Although there is no efficacy for top of the head wear, neck wear (unless of course you have a tracheostomy and then you may need two masks, one for trach and one for face), the wristlet wearing of mask is not backed by any research data that I could find, nor is the chin wear or wearing the mask just over the lips with the nose exposed.
I have heard the rationale most recently from a store manager whose assistants mask was worn only over the mouth that “they do slip down” well it would then be only rationale to obtain a more snug fitting mask. Perhaps two or three so they can be changed.
I did hear an obese man at the same grocery explain that he could not wear a mask because “he had asthma”, he certainly is at very high risk for COVID-19 infection.
Perhaps it is time for new medical directive to be held at all area hospitals and with your care providers reflecting “I the undersigned agree to forgo respiratory care and ventilation should I contact COVID-19 as I have chosen to not wear a mask to protect myself and others. I also agree to forgo an ER bed and ICU care for above illness and will not hold anyone else responsible for my illness and/or death”.
What a great way to exercise your rights! Right?
