A war without a leader

I am watching “Victory at Sea,” which documents the exploits of our Navy and Marines in WWII. They rose from defeat to victory, through unimaginable courage and sacrifice. This included the combined efforts of our people and industries.

Today, we cower beneath COVID-19, a brainless virus. Our federal government has raised the white flag and fled the field of battle, called the USA. Our industries haven’t been tasked with producing basic supplies to protect our intrepid medical personnel, nor to test our people. Without extensive testing we can’t locate and track the virus, our indefatigable enemy.

This is a biological war! We have a “wartime” president who revels in fireworks over Mount Rushmore while hospitals hemorrhage from COVID casualties. In WWII we had great leaders — starting with FDR, who wasn’t afraid to lead at home, and appoint peerless field commanders. Today we have no presidential leadership, and a cast of lying imbeciles who spew a deluge of flaccid baffelgab.

Meanwhile, our once valiant citizens can’t bear the sacrifice of “sheltering in place” or wearing masks. All because they have their rights to shop, booze, and cruise. Who will win, COVID or US?
