Virus, economy linked

So, we have in the U.S.A. two seeming conflicts. We have a pandemic out of control on one hand, and an economy that is tanking on the other.

These two elements are connected, however. A healthy populace is essential to a healthy economy. A worsening health crisis will adversely affect our economy. Somehow, our president does not get this. His encouragement of opening businesses too soon is in fact going to hurt the economy. Witness Texas and Florida: huge spikes of infection due to opening recklessly, sick, or dead people can’t work.

Other countries in the world have controlled spreading of the virus through strong federal leadership. We don’t have that leadership here. It has been left to state’s governors who have various approaches for suppression.

Ongoing virus increases have led to the European Union to ban U.S. air travel over there. Sadly many more various restrictions will likely come over, due to our failure to stop the spread of Covid-19.

We the people, have the power to turn this virus around, if we organize, while listening to medical advice.
