Mike Birbiglia offers a Zoom primer on parenting
While watching movies and binge-watching miniseries have both proved to be popular ways of coping with the COVID-19 quarantine, reading still reigns among some of us.
And Auntie’s Bookstore is well aware of that fact. Since the store reopened for business, requiring masks for entry and offering curb-side pickup for those requesting it, owner John Waite and crew have tried their best to continue meeting the area’s literary wants and needs.
In lieu of the traditional Auntie’s in-house literary gatherings, the store is resorting to the online service that so many other organizations — and individuals — have used: Zoom .
At 7 p.m. on Saturday, in fact, the store will present a “virtual live event” to mark the release of the book “The New One: Painfully True Stories From a Reluctant Dad,” which was co-written by comic and filmmaker Mike Birbiglia and poet J. Hope Stein.
“Life is not the same after having children,” wrote “Hamilton” author and star Lin-Manuel Miranda. “It’s delusional to pretend otherwise. But Mike Birbiglia and J. Hope Stein have not only survived, they’re making their most hilarious and truthful art yet. This book might save your best friend’s life.”
Once you’ve bought the book, you’ll receive sometime on Saturday an email message containing the Zoom link and password. And then you’re off.
Questions? Go to the Auntie’s website or call (509) 838-0206.
