Chancery worth saving
Spokane, as with many other cities, some time ago saw the value in preservation. The Davenport Hotel was saved from destruction. It could compete successfully in San Francisco or Manhattan. It remains a cultural prize for Spokane.
The Chancery Building is also a prize that should be saved. The Cowles family, that seems to own Spokane, should round up some additional investors, fix whatever ails the building and turn it into another profitable landmark. Hire Walt Worthy, who saved the Davenport, to take on the restoration.
Destruction of the Chancery Building in favor of yet another high rise (think Trump) will diminish the community of Spokane. What’s next, destruction of the rest of that remarkable block?!
