McCann inspiring

It was with a sense of admiration and enlightenment that our group viewed the statement made by Rob McCann to the Catholic Charities staff and clients. His willingness to name and question systemic problems as well as personal ones is a center point for every faith community and/or for every truth-seeking person, and his talk was filled with the humility and bravery necessary to combat the wounds that exist and have been brought to light so clearly as of late. It was heartfelt, succinct, and genuine. We wanted to reach out to applaud this invitation to all of us to do likewise, and examine our own personal and systemic racism in each of our corners of the world.

Our Spokane Friends (commonly known as Quaker) Book Club is just starting the book “How To Be An Anti-Racist” by Ibram X. Kendi. We welcome anyone who wants to take this journey with us (for meeting links – www.spokanefriends.com ).

And whether it is with us, with another community, or a very personal journey, we again thank Mr. McCann, for his very vulnerable and honest invitation to live the life worth living, that is, the examined life.
