Enough with the excuses

Duane Brown brings up another excuse for racism with his “Did you know that Jimmy Carter pardoned Jefferson Davis?” Well, what did Carter say about it? “Our Nation needs to clear away the guilts and enmities and recriminations of the past, to finally set at rest the divisions that threatened to destroy our Nation and to discredit the principles on which it was founded. Our people need to turn their attention to the important tasks that still lie before us in establishing those principles for all people.”

Carter was into forgiveness. He was not into honoring traitors to the nation who slaughtered more loyal Americans than any other group has managed to kill, before or since. The fact that folks such as Mr. Brown continues to be confused by the differences between forgiveness, remembering and honoring, is why the Republican party is led by a clear racist whose father marched with the KKK.
