Laws exist for a reason
The right to assemble and protest is inalienable and necessary. However, this does not give anyone the right to steal, commit arson, or assault, no matter what the cause.
Civilization is dependent on law and order, and has required policing of some type to keep that law and order. There will always be people who are lawless. Governments were created to ensure that laws and the common good are preserved, and we have policing to enforce those laws and protect the people.
Without strong laws, and the ability to enforce those laws, people will be left to their own devices to protect their families and property. This is dangerous, and a situation no one wants. So…Governors and mayors, your only job is to uphold the law and protect your constituents. That’s it. Do your job and put law and order back into our states and cities. Listen to the rightful anger and social concerns of your citizens and make the necessary improvements to your institutions, but do not jeopardize the safety and well being of your people for political expediency and ‘wokeness’. Do not allow violence and anarchy to reign on your watch. If you cannot or will not abide by your oath to protect your constituents and uphold the law, step aside. As a reminder, the oath of office for Washington starts: “I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution and laws of the state of Washington…”
