Do more than protest

There are so many things that can cause weariness right now and the “birthers” (anti-abortion folks who seem to disappear once a baby is born) who protest at clinics that provide health care as well as safe and legal abortions only add to the list.

How much more inspiring if they were focused on feeding, clothing and educating children that have been born. How much more inspiring if they were providing support to families who are raising those same children. How much more inspiring if they were Big Brothers and Big Sisters, foster grandparents, tutors, cleaning the homes for working families, providing groceries and rides to jobs and health care.

No woman “wants” an abortion but women may find themselves in impossible dilemmas.

The birthers in their glass houses could be doing so much more.

  • We cannot accept more than one letter a month from the same writer.
