Lancet’s political motivation

Practicing physicians look to the academic research world for applicable new information to their patient care. Ideally, that research world recognizes their responsibility to those health care providers’ provision of up-to-date quality medical care.

The current Lancet article about malaria drug use in COVID-19 patients has no business being published, and the authors recognize that truth buried in their discussion section paragraph where they state “Randomised clinical trials will be required before any conclusion can be reached regarding benefit or harm of these agents in COVID-19 patients.” So why burden us with this very weak and potentially misleading publication now?

The real reason is political, in line with progressive liberal thinking and action which itself has politicized an infectious disease pandemic where politics should be absent. Liberals are desperate for means to prevent Trump’s reelection. He has been outspoken for over two months about his faith in benefit of hydroxychloroquine use in treating this disease. His doing so has provided what the liberals see as an area of potential vulnerability, and they are trying to capitalize. The Harvard system source of this publication has not been shy about their negative view of everything-Trump. This Lancet publication has already prompted the politicized WHO to temporarily suspend their own trial of hydroxychloroquine over safety concerns.

Several multicenter randomized controlled trials, utilizing hydroxychloroquine as part of treatment, are presently underway. Patience is a virtue. Wait for clarity and truth before publishing. Patients in need deserve no less from the medical community and the media.
