One concerned citizen
I read with interest the article by Gene Warnick in the golf section of the paper.
He said he had to have a fake reason for driving in Idaho, so if the police pulled him over
for driving there with WA plates he wouldn’t have to tell them he was going to golf, since the courses were closed in WA.
He had to drive to a friend’s home or an empty parking lot and ride the rest of the way with his friend so he wouldn’t get ticketed by the Kootenai sheriff for parking with a WA license plate. I saw the picture he took of the sign in the parking lot that said, “Idaho residents only.”
The virus scene may play out for a much longer than desired period of time. The numbers of
infected people in any state could rise and fall and give reason to take precautions.
Idaho beware!
If the numbers reversed the situation, the Idahoans could be prevented from attending all WA events. Hoopfest, Bloomsday, acts at the Arena and Northern Quest, the Gorge, Seahawk games, Mariner games and even the Spokane Airport could be off limits to anyone traveling from Idaho.
When people live close to state borders and are normally back and forth for work, recreation, family events, medical treatments, shopping, etc., there may need to be a bit of grace extended for crossing them when their governors do not agree on how to proceed in the process. Isn’t this still the USA, land of the free?
Gene Warnick’s article should cause all of us to sit up and take notice.
