Still eating from the tree

What is is about humanoids and rules? For those of us of Judeo/Christian traditions, the first story of our biblical ancestors is about God issuing a rule: “of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, you shall not eat …” (Gen 2:16). Of course they ate and of course we humans today will find every devious way we can to disobey the rules; even to the point of endangering our lives and the lives of others.

Driving drunk or high, speeding, smoking in non-smoking buildings where physically challenged people live, never picking up dog droppings when they defecate on other people’s lawns or in parks where children play, bringing outsiders into a residence that’s quarantined; as soon as staff leaves.

Disobeying and eating of “the tree of good and evil” certainly didn’t make the human race any smarter, did it?
