Council’s cowardly act
I was at the peaceful protest on Sunday night where police officers with military equipment gassed me as well as all of the other folks peacefully expressing our discontent. It has disheartened me immensely that members of the City Council have essentially said, “There were very fine people on both sides.”
This is a complete falsehood and it’s quite frankly a manufacturing of reality designed to smear innocent protesters who were terrorized by the very people who are supposed to protect us. The resolution passed by the council is quite possibly the most anodyne and toothless act of political cowardice I have seen in my life. They went out of their way to praise the very officers who terrorized us while offering only tepid and milquetoast “reforms” designed to put a nice paint job on our rotten police force while doing nothing about the underlying issues.
The actions of the council are cowardly and designed to give a good sound bite rather than do anything to protect us. I refuse to let any of the politicians in our city praise the thugs who terrorize us while they fail completely to do absolutely anything to protect us.
