We need progressive politics

Senator Bernie Sanders is not a socialist. Recently I asked a member of the Freedom Socialist Party if Sen. Sanders is a socialist. The answer was “No. He is not one of us.” Bernie is a modern version of an FDR New Dealer. His proposals are modern style New Deal programs.

Despite Obamacare, millions of Americans still lack health insurance. They are a pool that could spread a vicious disease because they fear medical bills and may not seek medical assistance. Or they will increase our medical costs by using hospital emergency services. Medicare For All would end this serious problem.

Establishment Democrats willing to risk internal party damage to oppose Bernie are why I am reluctant to vote for a moderate Democrat. I do not believe the moderate Democrat presidential candidates will properly deal with global warming. Moderate Bill Clinton signed the federal legislation that destroyed the Glass-Steagall banking regulations. The result was the 2008 recession.

Moderate Barack Obama was willing to negotiate with Republicans to reduce Social Security benefits. Current moderate Democrat candidates may do the same. I am not interested in voting for a Democrat presidential candidate just to stop Trump. I want to vote for a candidate who will move our nation forward into the 21st century. Senators Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders are the only ones who will do so.
