Grandstanding doesn’t help

The world has been shaken by a new biological threat introduced from China. The Americans responsible for protecting our country, and its people, have responded appropriately and aggressively to inhibit transmission to vulnerable people within our boarders.

It’s a time we should all be supportive of every effort to identify and eradicate this new disease. The spread of misinformation, and the unbridled glee expressed by people in opposition to the current administration is despicable. Politics has its place, but not when we face a common threat.

Second-guessing and criticizing the efforts of the Centers for Disease Control, the surgeon general and the FDA serves no beneficial purpose. Helpful suggestions and support are welcome. Political grandstanding is not.

  • We reserve the right to reject letters that are not factually correct, racist or are written with malice.
  • We cannot accept more than one letter a month from the same writer.

  • The Spokesman-Review retains the nonexclusive right to archive and re-publish any material submitted for publication.
