Requiring a party affiliation

Our auditor seems to have a need to allow the G.O.P. and the Dems to ask for our parties affiliate or we cannot vote.

They seem to not count the independents at all. Are they implying their vote does not matter, or do the two parties have a need to suppress their vote? And this auditor goes along with the request, mostly on the Dems side.

It (“What you need to know about Washington’s primary,” March 8, by Spokane County Auditor Vicky Dalton and Washington Secretary of State Kim Wyman) also stated you can vote for whomever you choose, nullifying this intrusive request. I feel many will not fill this out because of our two-party system request, and our auditor is going along with it. Having to sign and mark your preference on the “outside” of the return envelope shows me and others the “privacy” on voting has been diminished.

I feel this has been done because of the two parties contacting registered voters via mailing address.

Why did our auditor allow this to happen?
