Lay off NPR
In response to “Self-supporting broadcast” (Letters, Feb.10), Mr. Sears faults National Public Radio for being “just as biased to the left as Fox News is to the right.” Fortunately, this assumption isn’t accurate.
NPR has never failed a fact check, while Fox News rarely passes one. Mr. Sears, if you want right-wing effluvia to match your ill-conceived world view, stick to Fox News. True left-wing bias and slant can be found on MSNBC and CNN. NPR works hard to present themselves as centrist, however, their audience might be decidedly liberal.
Also, regarding the so-called “taxes” you pay to “support” NPR, I challenge YOU to do some homework and find out exactly how much you individually pay for NPR. I will gladly reimburse you. I’ll even start you off with this fact: NPR receives 16% of its funding from the federal government. The rest comes from wealthy underwriters and those wonderful pledge drives. If you truly are a financial supporter of KPBX, I commend you.
