These are experts?

Reader Steve Brixen (“Deep thinkers,” March 11) attacks two women for voicing their concerns over climate change and human sustainability, ridiculing their expertise over matters he implies are better left to the president.

Tell me, Steve, exactly what is our president an expert on? The scientific bases of global warming and pandemic transmission? Or perhaps the extent of Russian infiltration in his election? Symbolic of his expertise is his putting Mike Pence in charge of our coronavirus response, a man who, when governor of Indiana during the HIV and SARS crises, told worried Indianans to just pray for the victims. I can’t think of two lesser incompetents protecting us from what may prove to be the most pernicious invasion ever to hit our shores.

The only things Donald Trump thinks about are the size of his inauguration crowd and which way the putt breaks on the 18th green.
