Stop and reflect
I have read with interest the many opinions expressed around the handling of COVID-19 and recognize I too have have both positive and negative opinions about how it’s being handled. I may criticize or endorse the governors, the president or local politicians actions, then after some thought I realize no one is calling me for my opinion nor has a major news outlet called me for my thoughts or directions.
Why, perhaps I don’t have the expertise or experience to manage a major international crisis, or perhaps I don’t have the experience to sift through the scientific data and make educated decisions — hence the unwillingness for local and national news outlets to reach out to me to address the nation via their media.
With these thoughts in mind, I am comforted by the fact that greater minds are looking out for my best interests and in many cases, they have been placed in office by the will of the people or have obtained the necessary educational degrees or experience to help manage the crisis.
I still may grumble and express my opinion — both negative or positive — but until I’m contacted by outside agencies and national audiences seeking my thoughts and guidance, I’m taking all of my comments and aligning them with a grain of salt. Perhaps we should all stop and reflect!
