Remember Innovia’s work

I have known Shelly O’Quinn since she was with GSI (“Innovia Foundation’s grant raises questions,” March 11). She has always been impeccable with her words and in her actions. Shelly has been visionary in her goals for helping all of those within her influence.

I have had the pleasure of being aware of Innovia’s progress during the past three years. With Shelly O’Quinn’s leadership, Innovia has grown more encompassing and inclusive in covering the 20-county region it serves. There have been big changes in the organization. All of these changes have been focused on carrying out Innovia’s vision to create “vibrant and sustainable communities where every person has an opportunity to thrive.”

As Innovia moves forward to adopt the legal framework necessary to address situations where donor wishes conflict with the Mission, Vision and Values of the foundation, let us remember the enormous support that Innovia gives every year to the nonprofits in our region. Without this support, many of the nonprofits that provide essential services to those who need it most would be unable to fulfill their own missions.
