Thank you for staying home

As seems ever the case in such situations, the current crisis has unleashed those who clamor for their “rights.” Also as usual, these people neither mention the responsibilities that attend their rights nor acknowledge that their rights end where those of their neighbors begin.

But I’m heartened by the knowledge that for every one of these people there are several who faithfully and selflessly fulfill their duties as citizens, putting the needs of others and the common good ahead of their own interests. Such people give me hope for our divided community and nation, and they have my deepest gratitude.

Having my gratitude in particular is Governor Inslee, whose well-informed and courageous leadership blunted what might have been a far greater disaster. Many Washingtonians will owe him their lives, and we’ll all owe him a debt of thanks.
