My error, my bad

Mea culpa. Roger Shaw has a sharp eye (April 30 letter) but when a writer makes such a gross error it shouldn’t be too hard to spot. Thanks, Roger, you are not the only one.

I certainly did misstate the number of annual deaths in Spokane County — though not as badly as Joe Biden with 150 million annual deaths in the U.S. Roger got it right at about 5000 per year. I would like to say a good editor would have caught the error but the 45,000 was so grossly overstated it shouldn’t take an editor. Thanks again Roger.

But now while I have your attention let me add that as of today we have had 32 deaths laid to the feet of the COVID-19 epidemic. With 522,000 people living in Spokane County, that comes out to a death rate of 0.00006. Perhaps the honorable Governor Inslee should cut the county a little slack and allow it to open up, let’s say tomorrow?
