A tale of two take-outs
I appreciated Don Chareunsy’s article encouraging Spokane residents to help restaurants and drive-ins by ordering pick-up or delivery orders (“Yours for the taking,” May 6). But not all restaurants handle pick-ups in the same way.
At one restaurant, the staff person was appropriately clothed in protective clothing that included gloves, a mask and also goggles. I, also, was wearing a mask. Hand sanitizer was available at the counter. Having pre-paid, I did not have to turn over a credit card.
This experience contrasted sharply with another restaurant. At this restaurant, no one was wearing masks, no one was wearing gloves, or any other protective clothing. I was the only person wearing a mask. I had to slip my credit card into the reader, and then had to select a pen from a can, which had a handwritten label, “Clean Pens,” on it. In my car, I wiped everything down.
I want to support Spokane restaurants; however, now when I order, I will ask if staff are wearing at least masks and gloves. If restaurants and drive-ins are not already advertising the safety precautions they are taking, I would urge them to do so.
