What science and data?

Sorry Mr. Wavada (Letter to the Editor, May 16), but the argument that Gov. Jay Inslee is being guided by science and data gets weaker every day.

On the day Boeing is allowed to bring back 27,000 workers to facilities in King & Snohomish counties, there are 18 deaths in the state, King County had 14 & Snohomish County had two. Key Arena construction with 250-400 employees in an underground, enclosed area is deemed essential while work on single-family units is not allowed to go on.

Also Fred Meyer is allowed to sell clothes and jewelry while Marshall’s (clothes) and family-owned jewelers are shuttered. Big Lots can operate but Hobby Lobby is not allowed to open its doors.

Finally Gov. Andrew Cuomo allows Onendaga County with Syracuse as the county seat to go to Phase 2. Onendaga County has an estimated 750,000 residents with 77 COVID-19-related deaths to date. Gov. Inslee strings Spokane County along even though Spokane County, with an estimated 550,000 residents, currently shows 30 deaths.

Gov. Inslee’s “science and data” seem rather slanted!
