Grannies for National Children’s Day

Sunday June 14, in addition to Flag Day, is National Children’s Day. Parents have been home with their children for quite some time.

The Spokane Raging Grannies is a group of women elders who sing parodies of justice and love. Due to coronavirus, we feel it will be a long time before we can sing together again, so we thought it might be fun to honor our children on June 14.

There are special days - Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Veteran’s Day - where people share photos of their loved ones on Facebook. The Grannies are suggesting it might be fun for parents to share their sentiments about their kids on Facebook, or preferred social media, on that day.

You may want to share a photo, create a video, sing a song, do a little dance, write a poem, letter, or love note - just something to honor your child. Let your imagination run wild.

These are tough times for all, but our kids will carry this experience with them for decades.

We invite you to share some encouragement and sense of community, for your children, on your social media page on June 14.
