He lied, Americans died

People in their late 60’s and older remember listening to President Kennedy, in October of 1962, calmly tell us that the world may very well cease to exist by the end of the week.. People did not panic. Rather, they did what little they could to protect themselves and generally went on with their lives.

Fast forward 58 years, the current president learns of an impending pandemic that will kill hundreds of thousands of Americans and millions worldwide and he choses to do nothing. Afraid, he says, of creating “panic”. A panic in what, the stock market?

Imagine if the president, with the agreement of the political leaders from both parties, had exerted leadership and gone on television in February and did as President Kennedy did; tell us in no uncertain terms that we needed to prepare for this Pandemic by mobilizing health resource production, staying at home for several weeks, wearing masks and closing most non essential businesses for several weeks.

It is safe to say that the number of deaths in the U.S. would have been a fraction of the 210,000 we have endured so far and the hundreds of thousands more who will die before the Pandemic is brought under control. The president, through his incompetence, has killed tens of thousands of Americans.

It is time to send this man back to Mar a Lago and return the country to effective leadership.
