Educate with diligence

In a recent letter (“Educate yourself,” Sept. 25), we were urged to educate ourselves on “groups that are rioting, looting, vandalizing, committing and killing” because they want America destroyed.

I would encourage Ms. Marlene Larson and anyone else who is concerned about this to begin that education with the Southern Poverty Law Center, started by two civil rights attorneys. They have been tracking groups who promote this type of behavior since 1971. They were instrumental in the demise 20 years ago of the Aryan Nations compound, a place for hate groups including neo-Nazis, Klansmen and other while nationalists, a mere 50 miles from Spokane.

I agree it is important to educate ourselves about these disturbing issues and to be deliberate in that search for truth.
