Got it wrong

Lucy Holt’s letter of October 3 (“Misinformation in the media”) was a revealing of cruel empathy.

Breonna Taylor was murdered gang-land style because she was innocent and the police were guilty. The Louisville police were untrustworthy to give oath and affirmation before going to the wrong address. The warrant was illegal because the execution of the warrant was illegal. Even if the police had announced themselves, the warrant did not give them legal authority to be at the wrong place. The surprise intrusion invoked the citizen’s right of self-protection. The police are paid to get it right; the citizen is not.

Government does not have rights, only the citizens have rights. Government has authority and a sacred charge and responsibility to exercise authority because certain rights preempt authority. The Fourth Amendment was enacted to protect Breonna Taylor from reckless, gun-slinging, Gestapo, cowboy, cops that murder innocence to save themselves.
