Truman was right

Disappointed, yes. Surprised, no.

On June 9, 1948, President Harry Truman called The Spokesman Review one of the two worst newspapers in the country. In 2020, Tom Ridge, a decorated Vietnam veteran, Republican congressman, two time governor of Pennsylvania and the first secretary of Homeland Security, endorses Joe Biden. Ridge said Biden has empathy, humanity, civility and character. To Ridge this was more important than tax policy.

It is unfortunate the one person who comprises the editorial board of this newspaper is more interested in his taxes than the traits Ridge values. Seventy-two years have passed since Truman’s comments yet even after all that time his comments remain fairly accurate.
