McCaslin phones it in

Being elected to represent over 150,000 people is a serious job. Bob McCaslin, the incumbent state representative in the Spokane Valley, prefers to “phone it in.” Even before COVID-19, he avoided holding town hall meetings and rarely made himself available to the press. McCaslin prefers to keep a low profile, continuing to bank on the local name recognition of his political family.

During his six years in office, McCaslin has accomplished very little. He has introduced only four successful bills while co-sponsoring dozens of unsuccessful ones with his longtime political ally Matt Shea. Among those bills that never made it out of committee are numerous anti-vaccine measures and his longstanding attempt to create a new state in Eastern Washington.

We deserve a representative who takes the job seriously, and who considers their position an honor, not a side hustle. Lori Feagan, McCaslin’s opponent, has worked on the front lines in health care for over 30 years, most of that time as an intensive care nurse at the Valley Hospital Medical Center. She knows how to work hard and has critical knowledge the legislature could benefit from during our current health crisis.

When it’s time to vote in the Feagan/McCaslin race, don’t phone it in by blindly voting for the incumbent. Vote for someone willing to put in the work to represent you in Olympia. Vote Feagan.
