It’s our fault

I do not understand what all of the fuss is about with the USPS? We are trying to blame someone, in this case the president, but one person is not responsible for what ails the USPS. If you want to know who is to blame, look in the mirror.

I just checked my mail. Ninety percent is junk mail. Realtors who want to list my house, ads, political mailers, charities seeking donations, and as I approach 80, the Neptune Society sends me reminders that they are eager to cremate me at my demise. Facebook has replaced birthday cards; email, texts, etc. have replaced letter correspondence; and most bills are paid online. Instagram photos have replaced picture postcards.

Those who pay online get an email reminder and for those of us who still send checks, we are hounded monthly to pay online instead of by mail. Our online purchasing habits are destroying most retail jobs in the USA, but who cares?

In reality, the taxpayer is supporting an agency that most citizens rarely, if ever use. As regards voting by mail, many states have not upgraded addresses; in some cases using addresses from when the person first registered, so valid ballots are not counted. The simple fact is we are our own worst enemy. So fix the blame on who is most responsible. It is us!
