A part of this community

The migration accelerates: As Seattle, Portland and California spiral deeper into chaos, Spokane/CDA harbor an ever-increasing flow of refugees from those places. Just as the passive schoolteacher blindly creates an environment of chaos in a classroom, politicians in these chaos-ridden places cannot understand why their voters despise them so deeply. “I am their ‘comrade’… why would they abandon me?”

Why Spokane/CDA? We take care of our own … regardless of color, or creed.

Thus, the challenge to you refugees: Become a part of this community. Bring your best. Share. Do not hide behind gates. See someone with a flat tire? Stop. Join the PTA. Learn to shovel snow from your neighbor’s walk. See a policeman? Wave and say, “Thank You”.

Learn to roll your eyes while reading The Spokesman Review, and particularly Shawn Vestal. Know The Spokesman/Vestal desperately wants Spokane to be just-like-Seattle. Know that deer mounts, classic cars, red turf, blue dogs and crimson cats are cool. Know that Inslee abandoned Spokane after “Windstorm” to daintily sip champagne with Obama in Paris. Learn chainsaw. Ski. Vote. Take care of your neighbor. Do not lecture on, or spread, the garbage that you escaped. Listen.

Welcome/Introduction: We are the, “Oh-doo-yoo-no-town”. {Sic} Ya see, after being here about five years, when meeting someone new, you will catch yourself saying, “Oh… do you know (so-and so)?” You will learn that everyone here is your neighbor… and we are answerable to all of them. Regardless of color, or creed.
