And the rest of this holiday movie season is …

Movie fans tend to have a holiday tradition. If it doesn’t involve seeing a movie at home ( “A Christmas Story” at my house), it means going to see what our local multiplex has to offer.

Even in these dark days of Omicron, the masked and vaccinated feel safe enough to venture into a theater with others (also, one would expect, both vaccinated and masked).

So what is out there to see? Well, I’ve already written about some films that are opening wide , and others that are opening at the Magic Lantern. What else might you look for in one of the several area mainstream theaters?

“Sing 2” : U2 frontman Bono joins the crew (voiced by the likes of Matthew McConaughey, Reese Witherspoon, Scarlett Johansson, and Taron Egerton) as they prepare for the biggest opening of their joint career.

“Licorice Pizza” : Paul Thomas Anderson’s latest explores the ‘80s-era love story between teen Gary (Cooper Hoffman) and 20-something Alana (Alana Haim).

“American Underdog” : Kurt Warner was never supposed to succeed in the NFL … until, with a little faith and some natural talent, he did.

“A Journal for Jordan” : Denzel Washington steps behind the camera to tell the story of a soldier (played by Michael B. Jordan) writing life directions for his young son.

“Red Rocket” : Sean Baker (“Tangerine,” “The Florida Project”) tells the story of a roguish adult movie performer (played by Simon Rex) who returns home to charm and bedevil his family and friends.

“’83” : In 1983, India won the Cricket World Cup Victory title. This is that story.

A lot of movies to see before the end of the year. Not such a bad thing, eh?
