Weigh the costs

I am writing regarding the upcoming Spokane Public Schools (SPS) Replacement Levy. My family and I are strong supporters of voting YES for this important levy which provides lower class sizes, essential staff such as nurses and counselors, and numerous educational enrichment activities that my children have benefited from throughout the years.

We believe that education is much more affordable than ignorance and SPS does a wonderful job of providing an education for students to navigate the world. Moving from the west side 17 years ago, we didn’t know a quality of life that Spokane offers even existed. We have short commutes, live in an affordable, beautiful home and pursue outdoor recreation practically in our backyard year-round. Our commitment and love for Spokane further developed when we transitioned into raising a family. With each academic year and with each child (three in total) the education, staff, resources, and commitment to developing our children into an avid learner provided by Hutton Elementary exceeded our expectations. The funds raised by this replacement levy are paramount to maintaining this high-quality education.

I understand that encouraging people to pass a levy when financial hardships have flourished due to conditions beyond anyone’s control seems bizarre, but I do believe that the long-term detrimental effects carry much heavier costs for the children living in Spokane. We care deeply for Spokane and want to invest in the children living here by voting YES for the 2021 Spokane Replacement Levy by February 9th.
