CRT is about the truth

Can someone explain why patriotic Americans want to trash the First Amendment by opposing the age-appropriate teaching of Critical Race Theory (i.e., systemic racism), and lying to our youth? Learning what has been omitted from many classrooms promotes honoring our American ideals.

That white children would learn to hate themselves seems dubious. (Do Germans hate themselves because they’re aware of the Holocaust?) An Indiana high school teacher reported his students are curious/ask questions about CRT. A University of Wisconsin professor said most of her college students were angry that they were told half-truths in previous classes. Most teachers want the freedom to teach the truth.

Fake news that black people are lazy, stupid and/or criminal should be challenged. From personal experience, I taught at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka for 10 years, and none of those characteristics were common. Most students were superb – attended classes regularly, did their assignments, and were very intelligent.

It is past time to acknowledge that black people contribute greatly to our country. The director of the Organ Transplant Department at Sacred Heart is black: Dr.Bennet. Omalu, who identified and named CTE (think of the movie “Concussion”) attended the University of Nigeria, Nsukka where I taught.

Americans should be acquainted with the truth. It will be revealed eventually anyway, (e.g. 751 graves at a Canadian Boarding School were recently discovered). This knowledge may lead to greater trust, understanding, compassion and unity within the country, and reckoning with the past. Human rights for all should be our goal.
