Kelly’s latest find: brown sugar makes sweet bourbon

You’d think there would be only so many ways to flavor bourbon. Seems like Leslie Kelly has found a new one.
In her latest pieces for Forbes.com, Kelly – a former colleague of mine at The Spokesman-Review – wrote about Justin and Jennifer Stiefel, a Washington-based couple who founded the Gig Harbor-based Heritage Distilling Co.
The couple had been living in Washington, D.C., but decided to move to the Pacific Northwest. One thing led to another, and pretty soon they were in business. And, in the process, they developed a brown-sugar-flavored bourbon that had attracted the attention of movie star Jamie Foxx.
But that’s getting a bit ahead of the story. Kelly, who with her husband John Nelson still writes regularly for The Spokesman-Review, outlines it all in her article.
By the way, if you didn’t know, a lot of freelance writers get paid by the click. Help her out. You just might learn something interesting in the process.
