What’s there to be afraid of?
1/06/2021: Representative McMorris Rodgers issued the following statement: “…Thugs assaulted Capitol Police Officers, breached and defaced our Capitol Building, put people’s lives in danger, and disregarded the values we hold dear as Americans.” “…What we have seen today is unlawful and unacceptable.”
5/19/2021: On the House floor, prior to a vote on legislation providing for a bipartisan 1/06 insurrection review commission, Republican Rep. John Katko asked the following, “I encourage all members, Republicans and Democrats alike, to put down their swords, for once, just for once, and support this bill.” Rep. McMorris Rodgers voted against it.
Today: Representative McMorris Rodgers could have supported this important legislation, but did not. So, what about those “values we hold dear as Americans” she alluded to in her public statement on 1/06? Truth? Transparency? Upholding America’s Constitution? Defending our democracy? If these are among them, then why did she vote against this legislation … afraid of the facts that would be revealed and made public?
