Over-regulating insurance

Recent legislation in Washington restricts the ability of (automobile) insurance companies to offer competitive premiums to customers based on credit history. As a result, Washingtonians with poor credit are rewarded with lower premiums, and those (of us) with excellent credit are penalized with higher insurance rates.

My monthly auto insurance payment nearly doubled as a result of this new policy. This is unfair; it interferes with the very personal relationship between me and my insurance company. My freedom to negotiate a fair rate has been taken away by the state of Washington in its effort to over-regulate the insurance industry. It’s a bad law and it’s bad policy.
