Free will and COVID

Many right-wing Christian fundamentalist are not getting vaccinated; they believe God will protect them from COVID or if they do become sick he will heal them. Over 600,00 America have already died, most unvaccinated; that way of thinking does not make a lot of sense.

I personally believe in “free will,” which to me means God will not intervene. We humans are responsible for our actions or non-actions and the results they create. Of course your religious beliefs can inspire you, make you a stronger, kinder, better person, but they cannot save you from COVID. I believe so-called miracles (an example - keeping persons who are dangerously sick alive) are in reality just a matter of numbers. A certain amount of people will survive, some will not. If one out of ten people with a terminal disease does not die, it’s not a miracle, it’s just the “law of averages”, cynical maybe, but also a practical explanation.
