Kreidler is costing consumers

Insurance Commissioner Mike Kreidler should be ashamed of himself. For years he has tried to ban the use of credit scores by insurance companies and for years, he has failed, saving hard working Washingtonians money on mandatory insurance purchases.

His argument that good credit only comes with high income is a fallacy. It is also completely unfair to all of the responsible Washingtonians of all income levels who have worked hard to build and maintain their good credit. Now, under the auspices of COVID-19, Mr. Kreidler has enacted the ban on the use of credit scores solely on his own, bypassing the legislature, and finally fulfilling his more than 20-year-long personal agenda.

More than a million Washingtonians are now paying the price with higher insurance premiums and he is smugly sitting back and telling us to “shop around”. Good to see he is putting consumers first. Oh wait, he’s not.
