Well, it appears the week isn’t done with us. Horror of one sort or another is on Friday’s movie schedule.
“Orphan: First Kill” : In a prequel to the 2009 film “Orphan,” Isabelle Fuhrman returns as an earlier version of the young murderous imposter. This time, she escapes from an Estonian facility and finds her way to the U.S. where she impersonates the long, lost daughter of a couple (Julie Stiles, Rossif Sutherland).
Clarisse Loughery of the (UK) Independent wrote, “There’s a surprising amount to enjoy here, with director William Brent Bell, making the smart decision to turn the unintentional camp of ‘Orphan’ into intentional camp, alongside adding a dose of satire about the corruptive pressures of the nuclear family.”
“Bodies Bodies Bodies” : A group of 20-somethings gathers at a remote mansion, begins to play a scary game only to see things go murderously wrong. They hype: Former SNL cast member Pete Davidson co-stars.
This second one, though, is receiving surprisingly good reviews.
Barry Hertz of The Globe and Mail wrote, “ ‘Bodies Bodies Bodies’ is the cinematic equivalent of a Twitter argument – but before you run screaming in the other direction, this is a recommendation.”
Go figure. Anyway, go, see a movie. And enjoy.
