Best of Fest 2022: 12 cries for social justice

Amid all the escapist fantasies that will be playing this weekend at area theaters, one event will address ongoing current events.
That event, presented by Meaningful Movies of Spokane, is sponsored by the Social Justice Film Festival and Institute and involves a range of films that represent the Best of the Fest 2022 .
The films, some 12 in all, will screen over three days beginning Friday at the Magic Lantern Theatre . Admission is a suggested $10 donation.
Here is the schedule:
Friday, 6:30-9:30 p.m.: “Honor Thy Mother,” “Reflecting on Anti-Bias Education: The Early Years,” “Alina” (opening-night celebration to follow).
Saturday, 12:30-2:30 p.m.: “Ramps to Nowhere.”
Saturday, 3-6 p.m.: “ITCH,” “Echoes From Lock One,” “Descended From the Promised Land: The Legacy of Black Wall Street,” “Beyond Borders.”
Saturday, 6:30-9:30 p.m.: “Limbo,” “The 8th” (panel discussion to follow).
Sunday, 3-5 p.m.: “Prayers for Prisoners,” “Unemployment Hotline,” “The Berrigans: Devout and Dangerous.”
