Looks like a busy coming week at the movies. In addition to “X,” which I wrote about Tuesday, here are some of the other films that will be opening around the area.
“The Outfit” : When his business is invaded by mobsters, a reclusive tailor (Mark Rylance) must find a way to survive the night.
Katie Walsh of Tribune News Service wrote, “A twisty, blood-soaked chamber piece, a retro gangster noir as meticulously crafted as a fine custom suit.”
“Jujutsu Kaisen O” : A student at the Jujutsu High school of sorcery is taught how to control the spirit of a dead friend who haunts him – until an enemy sorcerer enters the scene. Based on the manga series. Some screenings are subtitled, others dubbed in English.
Phuong Le of The Guardian wrote, “Bolstered by an electrifying score, this cathartic ode to the triumph of love is a treat for ardent fans and newcomers alike.”
“Bachchan Pandey” : This Hindi-language film tells the story of a would-be filmmaker whose attempts to make a realistic crime movie gets complicated when she attracts the attention of a real-life criminal. In Hindi with English subtitles.
No reviews are available in English. But here is one of the film’s trailer for non-English speakers.
“Umma” : Sandra Oh stars as a woman living on a remote farm whose peaceful life is disrupted by the ghost of her own mother.
No critic reviews available. Never a good sign.
That’s it for the moment. So go, see a movie. And enjoy.
